rottwiellers or black labrador retriever?

for what

on a serious note

I don't think either breed is for the novice dog owner… Labs can be a handful..they bored and detroy everything in their path… can be hyper and of course they are a sporting dog so need stimulation

Rotties…they can be such dolls…but they can also be very dominant…some are agressive towards people and or animals… again can have an unlimited supply of energy..need to be trained and worked or they can become bored and destructive..or aggressive

I own a Rottie and a Golden Retriever. Thus the name goldenrottie.
I love both my dogs but I have to say Rottie all the way.
You can get pet quality rottie from show breeder.

I own a German Rottweiler and although I believe them to be the most phenomenal breed available, they are very high maintenance as far as socializing, and in the last few years have become highly prone to bone cancer. my dog was recently diagnosed with it at only 6 and the vet said they are dying from it left and right and an incredibly young age. The other problem is that they are illegal in many areas and are not allowed in apartment complexes or most other rental types. So if you are not a home owner with a stable financial situation don't get a rotty, because you may not be able to take it with you which would be incredibly unfair to the dog. They are amazing, but you have to do a lot more research and be prepared to spend a lot more time training, socializing, and convincing people that they are safe. Good Luck!

Lab-a-dab-a-doo!

My landlady has a black Lab which some people think has some Rottweiler mixed in, that's how big and bulky the dog is.
Also, Labs aren't as likely to be targeted by breed bans as are Rottweilers. It's grossly unfair, but it's true.

Black Labrador retriever.

I own a black Labrador retriever myself. They are very playful, loving and can be trusted, although they are also protective but when they see there are no danger and you seem relax they back of. They are very good with children and also train very easily. The black tend to frighten someone although I would not call it a guard dog. More like a best friend. A friend for life.

A rottwieller is a very different dog. If you want a guard dog and that is all, definitely go for one of these. As a trainer I have seen a few people train them and they seem to learn well. They are however dominant and tent to only listen to the males in a house. They are also unpredictable and I personally would not leave one alone with a child.

Rottie all the way. They do require alot of attention to socialize but it is well worth it. I've had labs too very sweet and smart, if that is what you are looking for :)
