ive bought a black labrador puppy and have been told that i can collect her when she is 6 weeks old?
im a little concerned if its ok to take her a this time, is it ok?
A dog shouldn't be taken away from its mom until AT LEAST 8 weeks old. During the period of 6 weeks to 8 weeks the puppy goes through a very important socialization period and needs to be with its mom and siblings. This is also the time when he will learn that biting is bad. If you do get the pup this early, chances are you're going to have a dog with separation anxiety. He may bite and he'll probably cry a lot.

5-6 weeks they are learning important skills from their littermates. 7 weeks would be better. but 8 weeks is usually when puppies are sent to new owners

Most dogs need to be with their litter mates until they are 8-10 weeks old. Small dogs may need to be with the litter mates the longest. Also waiting a while, gives the dog time to adjust and also time to be tested and socialized. Most breeders wait until they are 8 weeks for socialization purposes, which benefits potential owners because they can kind of get a feel for the dogs health.

the puppy should be at least 8 weeks old. 6 weeks is to early and it is against the law to purchase one and take it before 8 weeks. I would ask for my money back from that irresponsible breeder and purchase the puppy from someone else.

I got my Pug at 7 weeks and I thought that was too soon also. Luckily I was unemployed at the time and was able to spend allot of time with her.

ur puppy might have behavior issues if u take him/her before 8 weeks. they need time to get out all of their play biting with their puppy littermates, so then when u take them home it will be easiear to traint hem

WAIT!!!! Don't get her any earlier than 8 weeks. She needs to form basic puppy skills before she gets removed. As cute and tiny as she is this young, it's better to stay with her mom and siblings!

it's okay to get a puppy at six week, but usually better to get them at eight.
Also, i think it's a little easier cause they sometimes don't have to go to the bathroom quite as much. at least that's what happened with some of our dogs.

i've had many puppies/dogs.
I don't have dogs myself but have been told that around 6-8 weeks is a good time to take puppies, because they are no longer dependent on the mother, but not yet attached enough to really miss her.
It was something like that anyway!!!
Good luck with your puppy, I LOVE labradors

6 weeks is good, cuz theyre already weaned off their mother. or should be. we used to raise puppies, and i saw that the ones that left earlier were easier to deal with. the longer a breeder keeps them, even only to 8 weeks, the harder it is to get rid of them, they get used to being around all the other puppies, then get taken away to be alone. socialization is good if you want a bunch of puppies, but if your only going to get one, why would you let him make friends, then take them away?

Well if your down for caring for your puppy like it was your child then yea but you will have to feed it and take care of it well not really I have 4 week old pit bull and we have bottle fed her since she was born and now she sleeps all day we only have to feed her once in the morning and once at night so just make sure the puppy can eat on its own now not needing it mother then its ok to take it already if not then you have to feed it milk from a bottle or a bowl. Good Luck!!!

Trust me im an expert with puppies!!!!
Do yourself and the dog a favour. Wait until the dog is 8-12 weeks old. The transition will be a lot easier for both of you.
