Well, all labs are shorthaired…. And chocolate labradors are not a breed, but rather a color. So what you really need is just a reputable labrador breeder and then ask if they have chocolates if you are set on that color. (Any labrador color is great)

Just to add, there are a number of health issues and disorders linked to this breed, and some of these include: eye problems, HD and elbow dysplasia, CMO, thyroid problems, vWD, diabetes, PRA, OCD, allergies, seizures, and heart problems.
Ask if they tested the parents!
The parents of the Labrador Retriever puppy should have OFA and CERF certificates.
