no such thing as a …
no such thing as a silver lab . poor quality chocolate labs being p ed off as a new color. ask the american kennel club.
They are SO Cute
…
And are all of yall BREEDERS?!?!The only kind people I know of that fuss so much about bloodlines and DNA is breeders..Or just Know it alls? How would you like it if you had a strange skin color and doctors kept shoving info at you about your Bloodline and DNA?
They are SO Cute
ok…keep being …
ok…keep being ignorant. just ask yourself why there aren't any of those silver mutts in other countries of the world but in the US? ill tell you why, because you burguer eating ignorants have to destroy everything in order to make money. you are a fool and those things are not chocolate labs…grab a genetics book and try to take your head out of your !
your wrong!!!!they …
your wrong!!!!they are chocolate labs stupid!!!!!
At least we spend …
At least we spend money on hips x rays, eyes certifications and heart testing…needless to say we keep the breed as it was intended to be when it was created. we do not breed FASHIONABLE dogs.
All of these so …
All of these so called silver labs are inbreds to keep the new gene in their lines. Wait until all these dogs start developing serious health issues and then go back to your "breeder"…see how that goes. Reputable breeders do not breed for color, we breed for type and soundness…we are not all greedy morons as these people are. You call true AKC breeders greedy??? see how much this silver mutts cost.
They are NOT …
They are NOT chocolate labs. The diluted color of chocolate is LILAC, not silver. Silver is not a diluted color, it is its own gene. this is why this coloration does not come natural to labradors, as some times do the black and tan or brindle. Black and tan might come from the use of gordon setters and brindle is a color gene mosaic…silver is a human introduced gene by using weimaraners…for sure!
Read more about genetics and breed history as well as breed standard before posting.
sorry to break it …
sorry to break it to ya but those are not silver labs.those are weimaraners.i no this cause i have a silver lab named lucky.and just so ya know, silver labs are not purbreads.its a special gene that comes from the color of wolfs fur, wich is gray or silver. their actually chocolate labs.
I hate to break it …
I hate to break it to all you AKC s but not everyone buys a dog to put them in a dog show and torture them. They buy them because they want a ing dog. IDIOTS. I'd love a silver dog just as much as a brown one. Who cares if it's a "purebred". Get a life.
i got one and she …
i got one and she cute
These pups are …
These pups are absolutely gorgeous!!!
i have a weimaraner cross lab pup, look VERY similar but mine isnt so chunky. Silver, well charcoal with blue eyes.
silver labs are supposedly not pure bred. but by the looks of these pups on here they do look VERY convincing they are gorgeous!!
Thanks, I will go …
Thanks, I will go check it out. In this day and age of DNA research..they should be able to prove or disprove anything. I know AKC uses DNA on the stud dogs who sire more than two litters. Consider Boxers for example..ever seen a white one? Consider Westies..do you know where they originated? White Cairn terriers, and years of selective breeding. Basenji fanciers used to freak at the thought of a brindle basenji. Now look around. So keep an open mind, and I will too.
A website called …
A website called the truth "behind" silver labradors gives a good possible genetic explanation.
Yes they are cute …
Yes they are cute puppies and I am sure they are probably healthy and will make sweet pets. However it terms of maintaining a breed standard I think it is up to debate as to whether they are truly "purebred". In breeders notations, silver wasn't noted as a phenotype til the 1950's, thus leading people to believe that the phenotype was created either by spontaneous mutation or by introducing genes from another breed most likely the weimeraner.
Before you post …
Before you post comments, be informed. These are purebred dogs. I have seen a chocolate and tan lab that was out of two champion labs. The tan on the puppy brindled..she was unique to say the least. Not something that a good breeder would encourage. Many years ago, breeders would "cull" the pups from a litter and put them down. Thank God that doesn't happen any more. color doesn't affect health. Beautiful pups, the AKC should recognize them as acceptable..and they will in the future.

The Labrador Retriever coat colors are black, yellow and chocolate. Any other color or a combination of colors is a disqualification. Black–Blacks are all black. A black with brindle markings or a black with tan markings is a disqualification. Yellow–Yellows may range in color from fox-red to light cream, with variations in shading on the ears, back, and underparts of the dog. Chocolate–Chocolates can vary in shade from light to dark chocolate
it looks like a …
it looks like a wimmer wiymer but dont take my word for it…
still it's very cute!
It is pure read …
It is pure read what the AKC says about the breed and the color before insulting this fine looking pup.
Nice doesn't make …
Nice doesn't make them pure.Even though they are close by appearance the blood line is not.We can call it a good looking dog to be fair.
breed yellow and …
breed yellow and black labs, just had a new litter but never heard or seen silver before. some of you say its a genetic mutation of the chocolate colouring cud someone tell me more please?
a dog that could …
a dog that could end up with many health problems because they are inproperly bred and breeders are taking advantage saying "rare" colour when infact they are crossbreeds that breeders are charging the earth for…i agree BUYER BEWARE Also proper lab breeders do apparopraite health checks on their dogs ones that breeder "silvers" are only in it for the money
they are lovely and …
they are lovely and pure as the other labs!Silver is cute!
buyer beware? of …
buyer beware? of what? if i asked for a silver lab and they gave me one of those i'd say i was getting what i asked for. stop being so anal. it's a DOG!
Definetly. They're …
Definetly. They're a genetic mutation from Chocolate labs. They're definetly not pure labs.
Oh well. They are …
Oh well. They are pretty and I'm sure they'd still make a lovely pet for someone like me who has no interest in breeding or showing.
33 years ago AKC would not recognize chocolate labs. said they were a black lab. But now they do recognize them. The same with silver. there is now wimer in them. AKC will soon do the same thing they did with the chocolate lab. I have a silver lab named Duke and he thinks you all suck for arguing over his color. He is registered as a chocolate lab but he is pure silver.
WOW!!! I can't believe so many people are this missinformed. here is the deal… the silver lab is just that,no the akc will not recocgnize silver as a color it can only be registered as a chocolate. however there was no wiemeriener or wolf crossbreading to get the color, its called evolution, and that is just the way it is… I will agree with whoever said not everyone breeds for color… some people just like the breed of the dog i have a choc. lab and she just had her first litter of 6 and we had her breed just because she is a beautiful dog. yes there are those who breed for strictly color and it is there god given right to do so. Do all of the ney sayers really have a right to judge so harshly after all is it really bothering you that bad, and more importantly does it REALY concern you… most likely NOT…so instead of wasting time complaining about things that dont concern you and you obviously dont know alot about you should put that effort towards something more meaningfull like putting a stop to animal cruelty or lab testing on animals you know something that would actually benefit the animals you are so concerned about.
