Which is better a male or a female Labrador retriever?

I'm thinking about getting a puppy labrador retriever, but we already have 2 mini poodles 1 female and 1 male (although they've been around other big dogs before) I've always heard great things about labs and always wanted to get one, we have a big yard and love dogs.
thanks for your help

the female will get her period often(annoying)
the male will get horny everywhere (eww)

it really just depends on what you want

please adopt one from the shelter. labs and lab mixes are the #1 breed euthanized in shelters because there are so many of them.

as far as the sex it really doesnt matter.

Please Adopt!

And male or female..it doesn't really matter. Both are great.
To decide, maybe play with the dog a little, and see which you like, male or female.

its really just a personal preference..

females dont get their "period" if spayed.. and males dont get "horny" if neutered.

They're both great dogs, and if someone was around both genders and didn't know who was which, they probably wouldn't be able to tell for sure. I wouldn't say the female is 'better', but I'd personally pick a female if I were to choose.

Females only get her 'periods' twice a year so no, it's not at all annoying. Plus, we females get them 12 times a year and we're capable of handling that. Males are not horny all the time! They're displaying dominance.

I've found that girl dogs tend to be more obedient.
But its your choice!

It depends, female dogs will bond to men, while the males bond well to the women. This is not allway's the case, but more than often it is. I have a female Golden Retriever pup, and she's a really smart pup! Either way, they make great dogs.

It really depends on what you want. Both genders have their pro's and con's. Male's tend to mark their territory even when their fixed and female's as you know can get pregnant. But as you know when you get them from shelters there already fixed so these wouldnt be problems. My aunt has rescued to labs one male and one female. The female was always more hyper active than the male and was bouncing off the walls constantly. While the male would just pee in the house every so often.

Felmales will bleed during heat just like all mammals do so don't get a female if you don't plan on getting her fixed and dont wanna deal with all that. The plus side of a female is you can have puppies. Males will be a little more dominant but pretty much the same as females.

i would take a girl, they are less aggressive(sometimes), and the girls pay attention. For example, if someone threw a peice of meat into a yard, with a girl and boy dog, the boy would run for it, while the girl would watch the person that gave them the food than the actual food
